About Us
The Datoga tribe are a pastoralist people of northern Tanzania, living mainly around Lake Eyasi and the highlands near Lake Manyara and Mount Hanang. Traditionally cattle herders, they are also known for their skilled blacksmithing, distinctive leather clothing and the beaded and metal jewelry worn especially by Datoga women. Their homelands sit close to Serengeti and Ngorongoro routes, which makes a visit to the Datoga easy to add to a wildlife safari and a valuable window into a way of life few travelers see.
